Spring Clean Your Mobile Devices
Spring cleaning is in full swing, so there’s no time like the present to look at your smartphone and tablet and do some reorganizing. Over time, it’s natural to accumulate messages, applications and media. Some information is important to hold onto, but excessive clutter makes your mobile devices run slowly and stops you from enjoying your gadgets at their best.
Empty your inbox
Is the familiar sound of incoming text messages and e-mails a constant for you? Between your personal and professional life, it’s not uncommon to find that your e-mail and text messaging inboxes can get quickly supersaturated. Take a look back at your messages. Are you holding onto any of them for practical or sentimental value? If not, it’s time to delete them! If the thought of sorting through them one by one is too much to handle, check your phones settings to find the option that lets you enter your entire inbox. Make sure you check your outbox or sent messages folder, too!
Clean out media
Videos, pictures and other kinds of media can take up a lot of space on your phone, without you even noticing. Go back through your galleries and sort through pictures to see what’s really worth keeping. If you’ve already Tweeted it or Instagrammed it, maybe it’s time to delete it. The same thing goes for videos. If you want to preserve anything for posterity, you can always save it to a harddrive, or use cloud storage to ensure it’s always accessible wherever you are.
Get rid of useless applications
Are you addicted to apps? Some of them look like fun at first, but later prove to be pretty useless. Ditch the ones that are no longer serving a purpose, or that are outdated. If you haven’t used an app since you downloaded it, it’s definitely time to let it go and open up some space for something new.
Keep an eye out for confidential information
As you purge information from your phone, keep an eye out for information. Are you making an effort to keep private pictures, sensitive numbers, financial information, health information and passwords separate from the other, less confidential material? You can use to keep the most important things safe and sound while you clear the cobwebs from the other corners of your mobile devices.
