Cyber Security Awareness Month
We’re in the thick of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and the education opportunities abound to help protect yourself and those around you.
Despite the number of digital devices available to us, how well do we really understand the security settings of our devices? Do you personally feel 100% secure when using public Wi-Fi? How often do you change your home router password?
Here are a few ways to follow the National Cyber Security Alliance this month with tips, local events, and Twitter chats.
Staying secure in an increasingly connected world
The Internet of Things continues to explode into our homes and electronic devices. Smart cars are slowly integrating into our world. The more connected we become, the more knowledge we need to protect ourselves from cyber crimes and breaches.
“We are transitioning from an Internet of individuals connecting to technology to an Internet where everything is connected. Securing this emerging Internet of countless devices is a challenge.” Watch more with this video about protecting your evolving digital life from the Stop.Think.Connect. initiative.
The National Cyber Security Alliance partnered with ESET to survey 1,433 adults about their home Internet habits. Released on October 14, 2015, the 2015 NCSA/ESET Survey Fast Facts: “Behind Our Digital Doors: Cybersecurity & the Connected Home” provides quick statistics about our expanding digital footprint and our responsibilities as responsible citizens.
“Given the simultaneous rise in our number of connected devices and cyber threats, this survey underlined the importance of cybersecurity as a core commitment in our digital lives. The findings illuminated a knowledge-confidence gap with a range of implications for online safety practices, culture and concerns in the American home.”
Protecting yourself from cybersecurity threats
Mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have become a main source of stealing data, including personal identity, passwords, health records, card numbers and other private information.
Focusing on mobile cybersecurity for individuals and businesses, Cyber Solutions Technologies (formerly known as PerSysTek) offers patented cybersecurity software authentication (3-factor) products and methods. We enable employees to safely carry their own files and personal medical, financial, legal, identity and education records on their devices while traveling.
This immediately available technology can help you secure your digital footprint while accessing your mobile devices in public Wi-Fi spots, while traveling and while on unfamiliar networks.
