Your 2016 New Year’s Resolution: Incorporate Higher Security
It seems that many companies are taking a teenage approach to cybersecurity.
You know, the mentality that “we’re invincible” and “nothing bad will happen to us.” If 2015 didn’t shake that naive confidence, let’s hope 2016 doesn’t bring any heartache.
There is increasing demand for cyber-accountability from corporations. Here’s why we think you should accelerate your security plans for 2016.
Looking back on 2015 data breaches
Hackers do not care who you are. In fact, your corporate reputation may only increase interest in stealing your data and selling it to the highest bidder.
CIO Insight reports that “Nearly 20 million personal records were compromised by cyber-attacks in 2015.” While healthcare and insurance records are skyrocketing in demand, no industry is safe from breaches. Find out more with their slideshow, the worst data breaches of 2015.
A look at cybersecurity predictions for 2016
CIO.com recently interviewed Carl Leonard, a principal security analyst for Raytheon’s Websense cybersecurity software unit. A few of his predictions for 2016 follow.
“Expect digital assaults—from standard malware to more sophisticated, clandestine entries—to continue on leading corporate brands in 2016.
By analyzing threat data from 22,000 customers in 155 countries, Websense says hackers will conjure attacks that target emerging technologies, such as mobile payments and top-level domains.”

Mobile security is increasingly more important as BYOD policies are implemented across industries. Outdated legacy systems and security practices are prime targets for theft. Those who are proactive and take steps to protect enterprise data from attack will maintain consumer trust and earn more business as a result. Stay vigilant by monitoring activity and increasing employee education—as cybersecurity is never static.
Protecting your sensitive data company-wide
Focusing on enterprise mobile cybersecurity, Cyber Solutions Technologies offers patented cybersecurity software authentication (3-factor) solutions for your business. This enables employees to protect corporate data and safely carry their own personal files and records on their mobile devices.
This technology is immediately available for cross-platform integration and will help secure a digital footprint when accessing mobile devices in public Wi-Fi spots while traveling and on unfamiliar networks.
Take action where you live
The National Cyber Security Alliance is promoting Data Privacy Day, an international event held annually on January 28.
